Helen Buse is a passionate, extroverted word nerd who believes that storytelling can change the world.

She served most recently as the primary staff writer & editor for New York City’s LGBT Community Center, while simultaneously managing the organization’s media relations. Some of her proudest moments include guiding The Center to establish its first-ever ethical storytelling standards, crafting messaging that helped pass a state law to improve hate crimes data collection, and creating new opportunities to lift up the voices of queer and trans community members in New York City.

She brings to Mixte a commitment to centering the leadership of marginalized communities, and always strives to tell stories that make space for the rich and multifaceted identities, experiences, skills, and needs of all people with whom she’s lucky to share this life.

When she’s not working, Helen is getting to know New York’s many trees & trails, seeking out new queer bars in Brooklyn, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and meeting neighbors at her local community fridge.
