ACLU in California has a long history of protecting and promoting civil liberties, including free speech, immigrant rights, LGBT rights and reproductive justice. Imagine Mixte’s elation when we were asked to assess the statewide ACLU communications structure, identify areas for improvement, recommend solutions and engage the affiliate teams in an all-day retreat to outline implementation priorities. We creatively conjured best communication practices for an organization tackling issues at the heart of racial and social justice. Today, our recommendations remain intact and we remain firmly rooted in the work ACLU does to improve our communities.
