Introduction

The County of San Diego’s Climate Action Plan contains a series of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next 30 years. On September 30, 2020, the County Board of Supervisors voted to set aside its approval of the Plan, as it was found to be out of compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act. Staff are embarking on a Plan Update to revise the 2018 Plan and correct items that were not compliant.

The 2018 Plan is being revised in partnership with residents, business and environmental groups. Mixte Communications was subcontracted through Ascent Environmental to implement a plan of action that includes outreach to key stakeholders, coordinate listening sessions, gather input, and present recommendations to the County to be taken into consideration as part of the adoption of a new plan that reflects wide community participation.
