Introduction
The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) is the leading national multi-issue organization that advocates and organizes with a reproductive justice framework to build collective power for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women and girls.
As basic rights for women and people of color are increasingly threatened, NAPAWF exists to amplify the voices of AAPI women and girls voices, making their stories and experiences part of the public narrative and shaping the aims of reproductive, economic, racial and immigrant justice movements.
Together, NAPAWF and Mixte worked on a plan to elevate its leadership team within current conversations about social justice to build AAPI power in existing movements.
The challenges were clear — but the team was also ready to mobilize and activate its resources. As they shared with us, “Asian women are mad, we’re not sitting out this fight, we’re not going to be quiet.”
Our Objectives
Develop a communications strategy to introduce NAPAWF to new audiences through thought leadership.
Here’s how we did it:
- Organized a listening tour with NAPAWF’s leadership and executive team members, all of whom have deep and broad knowledge of NAPAWF’s history and current approach, as well as where the organization wanted to go.
- Conducted a thorough analysis of NAPAWF’s existing communications materials, social media and website content and strategic plans.
- Based on this research and collaboration with NAPAWF, we developed a thought leadership strategy. The resulting plan pinpointed NAPAWF’s key audiences, their journey engaging with NAPAWF and the most effective ways to reach them, followed by immediately actionable recommendations to amplify its thought leadership and a timeline to implement tactics throughout 2024.
