Introduction

For over 40 years, the San Diego Diplomacy Council has connected the San Diego community and leaders all around the world with each other with the goals of fostering community and driving positive change. From hosting professional exchange programs to nurturing high school students into tomorrow’s changemakers, the nonprofit leverages these connections to spark conversations and action around safety, economic, social justice and environmental sustainability challenges.

Our Objectives

The San Diego Diplomacy Council partnered with Mixte to help promote their programs and reach new audiences.

Here’s how we did it:

  • Designed an annual report and brochure to summarize and promote their work and yearly impact
  • Created a messaging triangle to guide how SDDC speaks and presents itself
  • Launched an ad campaign tailored to introduce the San Diego Diplomacy Council to new audiences on LinkedIn
  • Supported media relations efforts to raise awareness of their programs 

The Outcome

Together, the San Diego Diplomacy Council and Mixte strengthened how they present the impact of their programs through printed materials that better align with their brand. 

We created a messaging triangle simplifying SDDC’s overall message — making it easier to communicate their core values and how it relates to local San Diegans. We also spread their word about SDDC to new audiences through placements in local media such as the San Diego Union-Tribune and San Diego Jewish World. Additionally, we developed a targeted LinkedIn strategy to help spread the word about SDDC to a global audience. We trained the team on how to launch ads and provided strategic recommendations to maximize their use.
