Introduction
The Society for Financial Education & Professional Development (SFEPD) is a well-known organization that provides financial literacy programming and professional development for college students. SFEPD is dedicated to providing resources for first-generation college students and students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Since 1998, SFEPD has taught personal finance seminars to more than 500,000 people, the majority of which were students at more than 90 colleges and universities.
Our Objectives
SFEPD hired Mixte to support the launch of its first-ever financial literacy certificate and amplify the stories of students whose lives had been changed by the organization, positioning it as a financial literacy leader, particularly for young people of color.
The Outcome
In our six months together, Mixte:
- Created the brand identity for and designed assets to support the financial literacy certificate “Mind Over Money Matters”
- Built relationships with HBCU-focused media outlets and reporters to deepen storytelling and media coverage about the “Mind Over Money Skills” financial literacy certificate
- Highlighted one outstanding SFEPD student ambassador and what motivated him to become a champion for financial literacy
- Created media announcements supporting SFEPD’s annual HBCU Financial Literacy Bowl and the 16th Annual Financial Literacy Leadership Conference
