HELLO! NICE TO MEET YOU

We’re a community-driven PR and Digital Marketing agency for changemakers, powered by social justice. We’re a small, mighty, diverse and fully remote team that believes we can use our communications expertise to make a difference in our communities.

WHERE WE’RE HIRING

Pervasive assaults on our community’s rights are happening throughout the country. Mixte is established in the following states: Oregon, California, Hawaii, Georgia, Virginia, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York. You must live in these states or be planning a move to these states very soon.

COMPENSATION & CULTURE
  • Salary for all strategist-level positions is $70,000.
  • We offer these outrageously awesome benefits, a four-day work week and a paid winter break between Dec 25 and New Years.
A LITTLE ABOUT US
  • Mixte is committed to building teams where people of all identities and backgrounds are welcome, included and respected (see our employee video). We encourage candidates to apply who are from BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, as well as folks who are from, or who have experience working, in social justice communities.
  • Our core values drive everything we do – from the clients we work with to the way we operate as a team. We don’t advertise on Meta platforms, as it actively goes against our values, and we partner with organizations to offer paid job training to the communities that they serve.
  • We support every employee through professional development courses mapped to a customized 23-step proprietary program at Mixte.
A LITTLE ABOUT YOU
  • You understand the power of creating strategic, innovative, and imaginative designs to help drive people to action, which leads to real change.
  • You are eager to be part of design projects that call out racism, homophobia, transphobia, environmental injustice and more.
  • You seek out and consume activism art as much as possible, with a clear sense of who inspires you and sets the bar for art as a tool for activism.
  • You are looking to create a lasting change rather than spread yourself thin trying to manage accounts and people. You have experience in, and want to focus on, community-driven art and design.
  • You’re inspired by the idea of being a part of a small and nimble team where everyone has the opportunity to collaborate and surface ideas without the bureaucracy of larger companies.
  • You enjoy having full control over your creativity, working as a one-person design team with the opportunity to shape your ideas from the ground up.
  • You have high levels of emotional intelligence and love building long-term relationships.
  • Your experience working for other employers – both the good and the bad – has allowed you to crystallize exactly what you’re looking for in your next career, and you won’t sacrifice that vision for any job.
  • You’re excited by – and have tremendous experience in – a 100% remote working environment. You appreciate the perks of working from home and you know how to produce stellar results virtually.
YOUR ROLE:

As a Social Justice Graphic Designer at Mixte, you will drive the visual aspects for our clients to ensure their messages are communicated impactfully. • Implement technological solutions to day-to-day challenges so we can work smarter, not harder
TEAMWORK
  • Initiate conversations, brainstorms and research to unearth key inspiration to shape creative concepts and design proposals
  • Drive big-picture design projects, such as a rebrand or creative campaign, from start to finish, leading the team and the client through the necessary steps of the process to ensure alignment and excitement with the final product
  • Step back to evaluate opportunities across the life of a creative campaign by collaborating with other strategists to ensure communications strategies overlap and work together smoothly and efficiently to tell the same story and steer audiences toward big-picture goals
CREATIVE WORK
  • Lead research, brainstorms, concepting exercises and developing creative briefs to guide the process of ultimately bringing to life visuals across mediums that connect with an audience
