Mixte Communications Wins 2023 National Award of Excellence for Best Boutique Agency

We’re excited to announce that Mixte Communications was recognized at the 2023 Anvil Awards

As a finalist for the Best Boutique Agency, Mixte stands out for our commitment to transparency and equity, for the work we do to impact diversity within the industry, and for our work to combat PR as a top 5 stressful career in the U.S.

This is not the first time our leadership and client work have brought Mixte to the national stage. In 2022, we took home four awards, both for our excellence as a boutique agency and for our collaboration with Funders Together to End Homelessness San Diego. In 2021, we received several awards for our digital media and influencer campaign with the League of Women Voters of California and for our media and public education work with The Chicano Federation

Here are just a few of the ways that we put our values into action throughout 2022:

  • We instituted an indefinite ban of Meta platforms for all client advertising. Until Meta can prioritize people and the planet over its own profits, Mixte’s position will remain. We shared our policy so that our peers and clients can follow as we also proudly provide inspiration of what successful ad campaigns can look like without giving money directly to Meta.
  • Mixte’s VP of Communications, a proud member of the queer community, developed a step-by-step guide to Celebrating Recognition Moments Through Strategic Content that is values-aligned and actionable (no more performative posts). She presented this content for the PRSA Western Chapter annual conference in Hawaii.
  • We partnered with All About Girls of Color to provide pro bono support to launch their new podcast. We also created a position in our proprietary job training program, Tracks Job Training, for an apprentice from All About Girls of Color to work alongside our team.
  • We said “no more” to the industry’s standards for long days, unhindered access and working till exhaustion — instead, we prepared Mixte to transition to a four-day work week. Now, as of January 2023, we work 32 hours, with each team member having either a Monday or a Friday off. We’ll be analyzing how to improve the policy, but we are committed to ensuring the team experiences a mental break over a long weekend.

Grassroots changemakers can rely on strategic, nationwide communications to help support their leadership and achieve their goals. If you would like to work with us, drop us a note.
